Abstract

Asphyxiation caused by violence is one of the leading causes of unnatural deaths. In medical terms, Asphyxia denotes failure of respiration due to insufficient oxygen supply. Death from asphyxia can be caused by murder, suicide, chemical asphyxiation, and sudden accidents. Forensic evidence plays a central role in resolving the aforesaid medical issues. This paper explores multidimensional asphyxiation, its signs and symptoms, and the medical evidence traces, scientific credentials, and admissibility of such evidence before criminal adjudication. In criminal adjudication, medical evidence is admissible, and courts have found it helpful in resolving cases. It can remain a permanent and foremost guest in the courtroom because of its impartiality, scientific credibility, unbiased nature, methodical investigative process, and detective or explanatory nature.
