Abstract

The rapid proliferation of deep fake methods has emerged thanks to the advancement of deep artificial intelligence: a model that can generate hyper-realistic synthetic media in such a way that it can reproduce human appearance, voice and gestures with remarkable fidelity. While this technology has enormous benefits in fields like entertainment, education and digital communication, it also poses major risks in the form of misinformation, identity theft, social engineering and ethical dilemmas. The dual-use nature of deep fakes underscores the urgency for effective detection tools, legal frameworks, and collaborative efforts between policymakers, researchers, and technology companies. This article delves into the underlying technology of deep fake generation, its potential uses, the risks involved, and the ongoing efforts to curb misuse. By delving into these dimensions, the paper underscores the need for a delicate balance between innovation and security, ensuring that AI synthetic media remains a tool for advancement rather than devastation.
