Consumer products through Biotechnology are creating a revolution in markets with innovative solutions in the Healthcare, Agriculture, Food Production, Personal Care and Environmental Sustainability categories. The pace at which technological innovations drive product development is increasing and organizations need to be able to develop sound marketing strategies for global operations that respond to the differing expectations, regulatory requirements, cultural differences and competitive markets of consumers worldwide. A combination of scientific innovation and being able to ‘talk' about value, build confidence with consumers, and tailor marketing strategies to regional market needs is essential for successful commercialization.
This study sheds light on the opportunities and challenges offered by marketing biotech based consumer products into international markets. Addresses how consumer perceptions, market segmentations, branding, pricing, distribution channels, digital marketing and strategic partnerships affect global market performance. The study also assesses the challenges encountered in the form of regulatory set-up, IP rights, ethical issues, misinformation and differing levels of public acceptance which can impact product adoption in various parts of the world. Moreover, it points to the increasing relevance of sustainability, technological innovation and multi-sectoral cooperation to build the competitiveness of biotechnology companies.
The results show that companies with market-driven flexible processes, well-established communication, targeted marketing campaigns and robust control processes are more likely to be successful commercially in the long term. The holistic approach of consumer education, culture (digital engagement), and collaborative innovation increases market acceptance and minimizes commercialization risks. The study finds that scientific progress and good global marketing strategies are both necessary for gaining access to international markets, building customer trust and maintaining growth in the dynamic biotechnology sector.
