Abstract

This paper discusses Delaunay Triangulation when applied in the optimization of dynamic firewall rules in Software-Defined Networks (SDNs). With the rapid growth of SDNs, the need to optimize and control network security and network performance has become a major issue in relation to firewall rules. The study suggests a new approach where Delaunay Triangulation should be applied to increase the efficiency of a dynamic rule optimization that can guarantee faster adjustments to network dynamics. The proposed method is evaluated with the help of a combination of simulated scenarios and case studies. The findings prove that Delaunay Triangulation methodology can give better firewall rule management, less processing time, and better security without affecting the network performance. Moreover, a comparative study of the old techniques with the suggested technique indicates a significant increase in the rate and accuracy of the rules. The paper has concluded that the application of geometry algorithms such as the Delaunay Triangulation in SDN settings can be an effective method of optimizing dynamic firewall rule sets and this has far-reaching implications of optimizing network security management in the future.
