Abstract

The Mach shock wave atomizer can be configured with flat or slot screen when it is used for liquid discharge to enhance the recovery of a water-bearing gas field. Since the Mach shock wave atomizer’s performance is directly related to the flow pattern inside the flow channel, the flow pattern induced by different screen structures may lead to varied performance of atomization and discharge. By using the porous medium model and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model, the static pressure, dynamic pressure, flow velocity and turbulent dissipation rate of fluid under the structure of flat or slot screen were simulated and calculated. Furthermore, the flowing properties of the two screen structures under actual conditions were analyzed by CFD method. The results show that the flat screen has more even downstream flow and less turbulent dissipation than the slot screen, so it has less influence on pressure drop in pipes. The research findings are referential for selecting screen of shock wave atomizer. © 2023 Well Testing. All rights reserved.
