An important contributor to the development of cardiovascular disease, stroke, renal failure, and early death, hypertension ranks high among the world's most common chronic health problems. Despite the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs in managing blood pressure, there are potential adverse effects, issues with adherence, and higher healthcare costs associated with long-term treatment. Consequently, acupressure and other non-pharmacological therapies are gaining popularity as a means to supplement pharmaceuticals in the treatment of hypertension. It would suggest that acupressure therapy is a supplemental strategy for hypertension patients to reduce their blood pressure that is safe, non-invasive, and cost-effective. It may benefit cardiovascular health by reducing stress and promoting physiological relaxation. Patients' results and quality of life could be enhanced by incorporating acupressure into comprehensive hypertension care programs. Standardized clinical guidelines and confirmation of these results will require additional large-scale randomized controlled trials.
