Abstract

The study examined the effect of job analysis on employee performance of pharmaceutical firms in Anambra State, Nigeria. The specific objective is to determine the degree of relationship between job description and task accomplishment of pharmaceutical firms in Anambra State. The study employed a descriptive survey research design to collect primary data using structured questionnaires directly. The population comprised 115 staff members of a selected pharmaceutical firm in Anambra State, Nigeria. A complete enumeration method determined the sample size, while convenience sampling ensured accessibility to the population. Data collection utilised a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. The instrument underwent content validity evaluation, while the test-retest reliability method was adopted. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple Regression Analysis via SPSS (version 27) at a 5% significance level. The test of hypotheses revealed that there is a significant relationship between job analysis and employee performance of pharmaceutical firms in Awka, Anambra State. Specifically, the study revealed that there is a positive relationship between job description and task accomplishment. This implies that job descriptions contribute positively to task accomplishment, suggesting that organisations that invest in clear, detailed role definitions can expect higher standards of performance and customer satisfaction. Based on the findings, the study recommended that there is a need to examine performance to identify job analysis gaps to organise necessary developmental programmes for the organisation.
